Harvey J. Miller is Professor of Geography at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. His research and teaching focus on the applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analytic techniques to study things that move in geographic space - in particular, humans within cities. He is also interested in individuals' use of transportation and communication technologies to generate mobility and accessibility, and the implications for sustainable transportation systems, livable communities and public health. In addition to approximately 100 scientific publications in peer-refereed journals and edited books, Profesor Miller is author (with Shih-Lung Shaw) of Geographic Information Systems for Transportation: Principles and Applications (Oxford University Press), and editor (with Jiawei Han) of Geographic Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, second edition (CRC Press).
Georg Gartner
Professor of Cartography, Vienna University of Technology, Austria
Georg Gartner is a Professor for Cartography and Geo-Mediatechniques at the Research Group of Cartography at the Vienna University of Technology. He holds graduate qualifications in geography and cartography from the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology. He is the president of the International Cartographic Association (ICA) and serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Austrian Geographic Society. At Vienna University of Technology he is dean for study affairs in geodesy and geoinformation.
